Jan. 12th, 2018, The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held their annual international event at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada. According to the organization: “CES is the world's gathering place for all those who thrive on the business of consumer technologies. It has served as the proving ground for innovators and breakthrough technologies for 50 years.” This is also a place “where innovations in audio, drones, gaming, augmented and virtual reality, vehicle technology, video, wireless devices, wireless services, digital imaging/photography or anything ‘i’ come to market. It’s also home to many international exhibitors.” However, one of their exhibits featured was called Psychasec — which was a “fake” biotech booth wherein this company can make full body replacement for humans called “sleeves,” and store their information on a device implant called the “cortical stake.” The idea, according to the company, is to transfer consciousness into a new body in order to make one “immortal.” Such an exhibit also presented the idea of immortality based on this technology, and even posed the question: “Do You Want To Live Forever?” This was done for the promotion of the newest Netflix series entitled “Altered Carbon,” slated to be released on Fri., Feb. 2nd, 2018, and is based on the 2002 novel-of-the-same-name. This series chronicles the story of a lone surviving soldier who must solve a murder from a group of warriors who were defeated in an uprising against the new world order.
